As a Security Specialist GS 0080 13, your typical work assignments may include:
Recommends short and long-term goals for security programs and develops plans for implementation as well as oversight of implementation. Assisting in preparing, analyzing, formulating, developing, reviewing, and implementing OHS-wide security policies, standards, and procedures. Serving as the DHS representative on intra and inter-agency working groups, committees, and other governmental and industrial associations focusing on DHS security. Assisting in the development and deployment of education and awareness products by preparing security information documents, conducting security integration items and providing informal presentations. Experience:
You qualify for the GS-13 grade level (starting salary $102,663) if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal government, performing duties such as:
Assessing the effectiveness of security programs and processes in their area of responsibility as well as recommendations for improvement and implementation. Supporting Classified National Security and Sensitive Compartmented Information programs and classified collateral support areas of the Agency within their assigned area of responsibilities. Provides advice on security and provides subject matter direction to department managers on new policies and interpretation of guidance on security management issues. Conducts operations and management for Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIF). Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used for this grade level. All qualifications and eligibility requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Time-in-grade Current General Schedule (GS) federal employees, and those that have served in GS positions within the last 52 weeks, must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade, or a combination of the next lower grade level and an equivalent band in the federal service by the closing of this announcement. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
